I use it all the time. A balanced equation makes me happy. Finding the value of x is something I find that life requires of me frequently. Math as a practical application. That's how I like it.
I think it's cool that you recognize when you use it! One of my former bosses claimed to not like or get along with math. However, if you put it in terms, of a sale price on clothes, it all just fell into place. So really she used/liked math more than she thought.
I didn't realize it until I took my cooking school classes and I was really good at the math. It felt familiar, like I do it all the time and it made me realize that I do use it frequently. Plus OneB and I sometimes find ourselves in a theoretical discussion that has to be solved by math.
